The developers wish only to refine and extend the 4.0.0 codebase;
all prior releases are unsupported and may very well frustrate those who dare approach them.
Users who directly access the FTP server should download files only from the
LATEST/dev
directory, unless they know what they're doing.
This directory is guaranteed to present the freshest development snapshot,
which should prove more stable and feature-complete than the prior official release
[Crawl 3.3.0].
